Jabberwocking on KCPW FM

Today was a very long shortest day of the year. I was awake at 5:00 AM listening to the radio news and at 5:50 AM Anna came in and said," We have to go be on the radio." This all started last friday at the taco trailer after the CUAC opening when I ask Anna to do the" Jabberwock" for the poets in the crowd and, as one thing always leads to another, Alex asked her to recite the piece live on his radio program "Poetry Is Wanted Here" on KCPW FM in Salt Lake City. So, this morning, we drove over the snowy mountain and 100 miles to let Anna be a radio star. She stood up to the microphone and in two takes was ready to go on the air. They gave her top billing - right in the center of the show and then played it again to close the show. Afterwards we went for noodles and Anna said, "I should have had the macaroni and cheese." If you have 30 minutes and would like to listen to the program here's the link - http://www.kcpw.org/article/2467 If you tuned in at 10:00 - sorry, I was miss informed, it aired at 10:30 right after congressman Jim Matheson.

After lunch we headed south to do our duty and make an attempt at Christmas shopping. We tried for two hours and failed, then raced home for Laura's Kindergarten Christmas program. I left early to go to a critic's lecture on the "Four Rooms" show. The shortest day of the year ended with Joe and I soaking in his hot tub, steam rising in the 2 degree air and bright stars overhead. Happy Solstice!

I was able to get through on this site to hear Anna. She did such a great job! Did Ken Sanders speak different voices on a radio show years ago in Salt Lake City.... maybe when Dad Roberts was going to medical school...about 1958-61? I seem to remember something like that...? Happy Day! Mom Roberts XOO
